The Alcohol Research Mentoring System (ARMS) is a pilot program funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's (NIAAA) Prevention Research Branch and the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD).

The ARMS program will match a new investigator who is developing a promising alcohol prevention research project and who has not previously received an NIAAA grant with a senior, NIAAA-funded researcher. With the mentor's guidance, the mentee will produce and submit a new NIAAA grant application or improve and resubmit a previously rejected proposal.

The program began in February 1999 and will continue through 2004.

ARMS is currently accepting applications for the funding year.

ARMS Website created 3/99.
